At JorabChic, every pair of socks begins with a story rooted in Azerbaijan, a region celebrated for centuries of Azerbaijani sock-knitting and carpet-weaving traditions. These crafts were never merely functional. They carried symbolism, identity, and meaning through intricate patterns and intentional colour, passed down carefully from one generation to the next.

Our designs draw inspiration from this heritage, particularly the visual language of Azerbaijani carpets and broader Eastern and Persian influenced geometric art. These traditions influence not only how our socks look, but how they feel and what they represent.

A Family Legacy Woven Into Every Pair

Growing up, I watched my grandmother knit wool socks by hand and sell them at the local Eastern bazaar. On cold winter days, my brother and I wore her vibrant, colourful socks, made with patience, care, and hard work. Those socks were never just accessories. They were gestures of love, protection, and identity.

That early experience shaped my understanding of socks as something personal. Long before fashion, they carried warmth, memory, and intention.

After moving to Canada, my wife and I felt a strong desire to bring our cultural roots into our new home in a meaningful way. JorabChic was founded in Manitoba as a Canadian designer sock brand that bridges Eastern artistic traditions with contemporary North American style.

In many Azerbaijani households, “jorabchic” is also an affectionate word used by mothers and grandmothers to urge their loved ones to bundle up in the morning: “Put on your jorabchics, my dear.” It’s a simple phrase, yet rich with care and tradition. At JorabChic, we carry that feeling into every pair we create, blending comfort, heritage, and heart.
